Brief
The grandstand required seating for 1000+ spectators. The venue has a seating capacity of 1,150 people and an overall capacity of 5,000. The pavilion buildings required ease of access and circulation with house facilities such as player change rooms, public toilets, function room, canteen, first aid and other supportive uses.

Design
The grandstand is an expression of economy and structural simplicity.
The building frames the Crinigan Circuit streetscape and is a distinct landmark within the Gungahlin landscape with its strong wedge-shaped form rising up from the sport ground. Visitors filter into the ground by passing through the openings formed by structural modules of the pavilion roof.
The thin grandstand roof hovers above the spectator bleacher seating. The weighty concrete architecture is punctured with louvres to provide filtered light and natural ventilation into the change rooms and supportive spaces housed under the seating.
